Brian Burkhart believes in “Making Waves.” For the record, these are not of the aquatic variety. He’s the founder and Chief Word Guy at SquarePlanet Presentations & Strategy, a Phoenix, Arizona-based business communications firm that landed a spot on the 2018 Inc. 5000 list. He’s also the co-founder and co-owner of AlterEgoAV and Mutt Jackson, both based in Chicago, Illinois.

Brian is an adjunct lecturer at Northwestern University’s Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, as well as an instructor at the Junto Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership in Chicago and Los Angeles. He’s a highly sought-after speaker, presenting regularly to audiences around the globe about beliefs and the power of communication. You can catch him as the host of the “Square Stories” podcast, a bi-monthly exposé of the most fascinating people in business today.

The path Brian has followed includes opportunities to coach C-suite leaders of Fortune 500 companies, TED speakers, Shark Tank contestants and countless business owners. He’s helped all of them communicate and lead how they’ve always imagined. Brian has worked with some of the biggest brands in the world, including Coca-Cola, Redbox, Google, Jim Beam Gartner, Citibank, The Northern Trust, Red Bull, United Airlines, General Motors and more.

He loves the Chicago Bears and is eternally optimistic about them going 19-0. Yes, that includes a Super Bowl victory. He’s an obnoxious food snob and a lousy ceramic artist. A few years ago, the warm rays of the sun beckoned; Brian moved from the frozen tundra of Chicago to live in Arizona with his amazing wife, Shawna. Together they enjoy hiking, sunsets and hummingbirds.
